Why Waste Skips?
Effective offshore waste handling is about much more than simply providing a waste container.
Waste must be collected safely, transported between offshore installations and shore bases, handled by multiple lifting systems and ultimately disposed of efficiently without introducing unnecessary handling, delays or safety risks.
The Simmonds Equipment Waste Skip range has been developed to simplify this process while supporting safe lifting operations, efficient waste segregation and seamless integration into established offshore and onshore waste handling practices.
Engineered Around the Complete Waste Journey
Many offshore waste skips are designed only for offshore lifting. Once they arrive ashore, the waste often has to be transferred into conventional onshore skips before it can be transported to its final disposal location.
Simmonds Equipment engineered its Waste Skip range to remove this unnecessary step.
Optional side-mounted trunnions allow the skips to interface directly with conventional skip trucks, while integrated rear tipping bars enable straightforward discharge at waste transfer, recycling and disposal facilities.
The result is a single waste container engineered to remain with the waste stream throughout the complete handling process, reducing double handling while improving operational efficiency from offshore installation to final disposal.
Open or Enclosed?
The choice between an Open or Enclosed Waste Skip depends on the type of waste being handled.
Open Waste Skips provide unrestricted access for larger and heavier maintenance waste.
Enclosed Waste Skips are designed primarily for bagged operational waste. Lightweight access doors provide practical single-person operation while remaining robust enough to withstand demanding offshore environments, allowing routine waste disposal without compromising safe containment during transportation.
